Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA Journey

Our park is a quiet and peaceful resting place. You can relax and enjoy the views from all directions. Do plan to see some fabulous sunrises and be prepared for beautiful sunsets!

This award-winning campground sits at the edge of the Lost River Range and Mount Borah (Idaho's tallest mountain). The campground is only 19 miles from Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve, where you can explore vast lava flows, cinder cones, and lava tube caves created by ancient volcanoes. Discover mountain lakes and hot springs or watch for deer, antelope, elk, and moose. Ride your ATV up a volcanic dome or on the many trails in the valley - some city roads even allow you to ride to the trails. The Lost River Valley is now the "off-road capital of the West". There are literally 100s of miles of off-road trails to explore, right from the campground. Then quietly relax at your spacious site shaded by mature trees, enjoy the heated pool, or frolic with your dog in the pet playground. Stay in an easy Pull-Thru RV Site or a cozy Camping Cabin - or pitch a tent. This KOA has free Wi-Fi, a great gift shop and free morning waffles and coffee. Join in the fun at nightly ice cream socials (seasonal). Hunters receive a great deal during the season. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 75 feet. Open from 1 April to 1 November. Your hosts:

Alan and Barbara Zimmer

Great staff, extremely clean campsites, relatively quiet in the early winter, and fall. I'm probably quite busy in the summer. Good pull through spots propane, wood, etc for sale. The cabins look fantastic, and the restrooms are cleaned and sanitized regularly. Some of the fixtures are dated but everything works quite well, overall an absolutely fantastic KOA.

Adequate or a bit more. 3.5 stars would be more accurate --a B-

This KOA exceeded our expectations! We had a grassy site for our tents, and the grass was soft so we didn’t need our sleeping pads. We were looking forward to the pool, but it was closed due to electrical issues - it happens, no big deal. We loved the ice cream social ($1 a scoop, they offered 6 flavor options, chocolate syrup and sprinkles). There’s a nice shaded seating area, laundry room, and food services. We only ordered fries but they were delicious and they deliver right to your site. Waffles in the morning were very good!! Bathrooms were clean - 3 toilet stalls, 3 shower stalls, and 4 sinks. We would stay here again and highly recommend. The owners and all the staff we came in contact with were very sweet.

Not one of the best KOA we've ever been to but good enough to stay for a night or so when in this part of Arco. The sites do not have privacy fence or hedges but it does have a picnic table. There is a cafe on site where you can call your order and get delivered to your site. This park has laundry, small convenience store, pet wash, pet playground and they sell firewood and propane. They have 50 amp full hook up, 30 amp full hook up, water and electric sites water only site, tent sites and camping cabins.
