DeLand / St. Johns River KOA Journey
Welcome to the DeLand / St. Johns KOA!
Kick back to the pace of the sleepy St. Johns River at this new KOA, ideal for relaxation. Push off in one of the campground's rental canoes or kayaks for a leisurely paddle among the shorebirds, or rent one of the boats to cast in its bass-rich waters. The on-site St. John's River Grille serves up fresh seafood, and its rooftop tiki bar has one of the finest river views in the county. It also features a screened-in patio, daily specials and live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Explore historic DeLand, filled with stately architecture, shopping, dining, a Friday night farmers' market and special events. Take a dip in a freshwater spring at nearby De Leon Springs State Park. It's just a half-hour drive to famous Daytona and miles of sandy Atlantic beaches. The theme parks and endless entertainment of Orlando are less than an hour away. Max pull thru: 80 feet.

We had a wonderful time. There was only 1 manatee, the rest had already gone. Easy walking and great history. We took a river tour and it was great.

Front desk staff and new online system good. Very friendly. Ended up wanting to stay another night and paid online however could not stay after all and called next morning to be told “sorry I can’t help you” - zero refund. No communication about pool being out of order. Was told by long term renters it has been broken for over a week. They should have told us. If you don’t own a boat and have no pool not much to do. Bathrooms were clean but dated. No place to sit by the river unless you had a site on it. This property is a working marina - has an industrial feel with welding and banging all day. Not the fault of this property however the bridge is being replaced with a larger one and at this stage the banging of the piling for it goes all day long. Very dusty and plenty of fire ants. Restaurant was great so was their staff. The bar upstairs was the highlight of the stay.

Pros: Proximity to St. John's River, access to Blue Heron Tours (Wonderful!!) and nice bar and grille with decent bar food, albeit on the pricey side for what you got. Campground was well lit at night. "Ships Store" had a few provisions, not much. Bathrooms were marginal, laundry facilities acceptable but some equipment was out of order during our entire 8 night stay. Cons: too many to list in entirety, but main ones: Internet service non-existent unless you sat outside the bathroom (and there was no place to sit). Trash trucks woke us twice at 5:00 am during our stay, reported to management the first time but apparently they did not care. Other than pool lounge chairs, no place to sit outside to relax or watch the water. Power went out for 8 hours and no word or acknowledgement from management. The noise from the construction on the highway 100 yards away was understandable but still hard to deal with. Sewer smell was very strong where we were camped, near a lot of full time residents, We were informed by another camper that as of a few days before we got there this campground was no longer a KOA, and indeed we did not see any signs referring to KOA but it was not mentioned by management. Not a place I would choose to stay again. Being generous with a 3...did I mention the fire ants?

Costumer service was exceptional. The place is clean and well maintained. Down side, There is no cable for entertainment and some of the pull through have a little hill where you park that make it challenging to level the RV, plus the price is a little higher than most. Other than that it was an excellent experience all together. It is best to rent for a week to enjoy all the amenities.

Went to hand out at the Marina! It was beautiful. Day or night it's amazing.
