Fort McCoy / Lake Oklawaha KOA Holiday

Welcome to Fort McCoy/Lake Oklawaha KOA/RV Park. If you have an adventurous spirit, or prefer to just sit back and relax while enjoying a spectacular view, this park has something for everyone.

You'll savor the bluff-top view of lovely Lake Oklawaha from this serene setting in the Ocala National Forest. With its 3,700 feet of private lakefront, this KOA makes it easy to take advantage of nature. Take one of the campground's trails down by the water to drop a line in, or explore the forest's many trails by ATV or OHV. We are separate from the Ocala National Forest, so we ask you handle your permits before arrival. We have activities and amenities for campers of all ages, including volleyball, playground, dog park, kids crafts, movie nights, DJ/live music, family friendly social areas, lake access, and much more. There's even a 6,000-square-foot clubhouse (with a kitchen) that has plenty of room for dancing, reunions and other events.  You'll also want to check out the adjacent Junior Olympic-size pool. Pool: Open Year Round. Max pull thru: 81 feet.

Good camp ground. Enjoyed our experience. Has a pool, swing set, walking trails, its by the ocklawaha river which is nice. Has restrooms and showers. Hook up for electric and septic. Golf cart and 4 wheeler friendly- MUST ADHERER to SAFETY rules. Which is cool. And pet friendly.

This is not our first time at this campground BUT it is the last. The young lady in office and Night Security were Awesome. KOA should be ashamed to label this with their flag. It falls EXTREMELY SHORT of any expectations. The Office/store closed at 4pm everyday. Bathrooms at Clubhouse were disgusting!!! I cleaned them so my family could use it. There was also another female guest cleaning so she could use the facilities. When I requested the restrooms be cleaned, the 2 girls came and complained about having to work with the bugs, never touch the toilets and left the trash there for 3 days afterwards. The Club house is huge but no activities, kids are unsupervised throwing pool balls around and making a mess. The picnic tables in the pictures are no where to be found. There are old wooden ones. Flying ants, possibly termites invading the area. There is no longer firewood for sale. The laundry facilities lol 2 of 6 washers work and 2 dryers but the catch is you have to have the small hand of a child to reach in the hole where the change box used to be and press a button to turn it on. This was a disgrace and my 4 night trip was horrible to say the least.

Had reservations booked for three evenings. Started calling three days prior to check in date to cancel as I had car troubles in route. The phone would either just ring and ring and ring or go to a full voicemail. Finally found an 800 number to call the night before actually spoke to someone who took a message. Called that morning voicemail still full kept calling and calling and calling as it was a weekday someone should’ve been there. Finally someone answered the phone argued with me for a good 15 minutes and kept my deposit said could not refund because the only voice message they got was the night before, disregarding the fact that I tried for three days and never was able to speak to anyone and these were weekdays. Would not recommend as the young girl I spoke to was very rude. Poor customer service. Not a very good business to have a full voicemail constantly no answer phones.

This place is definitely rural and rustic if that is what you like. It is so dark at night you can hardy see. Arrived late and was told to just pick a spot. The campers there take up more than one spot using hookups that do not belong to their location.

If you are planning to stay and ride ATV - this may be the place for you. As far as 'riding parks' go, this is generally one of the better places to stay at as most do not have a pool, showers, or playground. IF YOU ARE NOT PLANNING TO RIDE TRAILS - THIS PARK MAY NOT BE FOR YOU! The sites are a 'free for all' and you just have to drive around and find an opening. There were many people taking up more the one spot, making it hard to find one close to the amenities. There is no cable hook up and the water pressure tends to come and go. There was no service with our Verizon phones unless we were RIGHT by the lake. The laundry room had very old machines and I did not trust using them. The bathrooms in the clubhouse were disgusting until I complained, but they did clean them directly after. They were very nice about allowing anyone to hang in the clubhouse to watch TV, place pool, or in my case - set up my computer and work. However the floors had not been cleaned for some time and there was debris and bugs everywhere. The pool area was nice, but not heated so very cold during our stay. I did hear a worker say they were trying to get the pool cleaned/serviced but had trouble getting someone due to the cold water. Overall, if you are not going to ride the trails, consider somewhere else.
