Newberry / I-26 / Sumter NF KOA Journey
Welcome to the Newberry / I-26 / Sumter NF KOA!
"Centrally located in the middle of everywhere" is the best way to describe our 46-site, wooded campground. (That's right! No "parking lot" camping here!) Nestled on 19 acres in the "Piedmont" of South Carolina, you'll find us less than a mile off Exit 60 on Interstate 26 in Kinards (that's "Ky"-nerds), South Carolina.
While you're camping with us, feel free to "walkabout" this great state of ours by fishing in Lake Murray, hiking in Sumter National Forest, or catching a show at the Newberry Opera House. (It ain't really opera.) If you prefer eclectic restaurants, museums, and history, we're within an hour's drive of Columbia, Spartanburg, and Greenville.
We're a great stopping point, too. Whether you're headed to coastal destinations like Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Hilton Head, and Savannah, or you're just "passing through" on your way to Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia, just give us a call for a safe, quiet, clean spot to rest your head for the night. With 28 pull-through, full hook-up (30- and 50-amp service) sites, it's easy to roll in, roll out, and roll on! We also have 9 "back-in" sites that have water and electricity-perfect for a quick, weekend getaway. Other amenities include: saltwater pool, camp store, laundry facilities, dog park, playground, pavilion/outdoor movie theater, and a dump station. We don't have cable, but our Wi-Fi is exceptional!

Campground is easy to find. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. At check in they give you restaurant and shopping recommendations for the area. Staff escorted us to our site. The site was wide enough and long enough for easy access (site was about 100 feet long). The sites are very level. All sites have gravel with no bare spots. Park has flowers, gnomes and other decorations throughout the park. WIFI was fast enough to stream and watch TV. Bathrooms were very clean and roomy. They have a scavenger for children along with lots of painted rocks throughout the campground. This place is going all out with improvements for the sites, expanding camp area, building a water wheel for kids to pan for stones and other things. There is a very nice pavilion that they host events are. The dog park is very well maintained with benches in the shady for us to enjoy while the dogs explored the park. Make sure you walk around at night as there are soft sting lights all around the park.

I visit her a few times a month to dump the tank on my work truck. Every time I visit its quiet and pretty secluded. The ladies at the front desk are nice and welcoming. The man that does maintenance(i think) is quick to offer a hand if needed.

As “Snow Birds” making our way north we stopped at this amazing KOA in central South Carolina. The owners and staff are incredibly hospitable and have an impeccable attention to detail, making everyone feel welcome and everything look well maintained. Built in the 1970s as a KOA, it had operated outside of the franchise for several years. Now that it has returned to being a KOA, it checks all the boxes of great amenities and services and goes another step forward by exceeding your expectations!
